Our Story
Hydrotherapy Studio is a specialist aquatic physiotherapy clinic located in Underwood, south Brisbane. Founded by physiotherapist Ben Strachan, the clinic operates exclusively from private heated pools — every session, for every client, takes place in the water.

Meet Ben Strachan
Ben has been delivering hydrotherapy as a self-employed physiotherapist since 2010, starting with group and individual sessions at Newmarket and Ascot pools before building a client base around the complex cases that benefit most from aquatic rehabilitation.
After five years operating Brisbane Hydrotherapy Physio from public pool facilities, Ben established Hydrotherapy Studio — Brisbane’s first purpose-built private aquatic physiotherapy clinic — to create a clinical environment that matched the needs of the clients he was already seeing: one-on-one, private, fully accessible, and equipped to a standard that public pools simply can’t offer.
The facility reflects decisions made over 15 years of clinical practice. Six pools serve distinct purposes — dedicated therapy pools, private rental pools for independent patient programs, and hot and cold pools for contrast therapy. The underwater treadmills are among the first installed in a private Australian clinic, and Ben remains one of the country’s highest-volume sales representatives for rehabilitation-grade aquatic equipment — a direct result of prescribing and trialling this equipment with patients over many years.
Ben is a registered member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (AHPRA: PHY0001166238) and holds Medicare, WorkCover QLD, and DVA provider registrations.
