Conditions Treated With Hydrotherapy

Aquatic Physiotherapy for Complex Rehabilitation

Hydrotherapy Studio specialises in conditions where gravity is part of the problem — where loading a limb, joint, or spine on land causes pain, weakness, or prevents meaningful rehabilitation. Water buoyancy allows your physiotherapist to offload those structures and build strength progressively, without the setbacks that come from training under full body weight too early. The conditions listed below are among the most common presentations we see — but this is not a complete list. If your condition involves lower limb weakness, joint pain under load, neurological impairment, or significant post-surgical restriction, hydrotherapy is likely appropriate. Call us to discuss.

Arthritis & Joint Pain

Warm water reduces joint stiffness and makes movement easier for people with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other joint conditions. The buoyancy of the pool unloads your joints so you can work on strength and range of motion without the pain you’d feel on land.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Recovering from hip or knee replacement, spinal surgery, or ligament reconstruction? The water lets you move early and safely — taking load off healing tissues while you rebuild strength and mobility. Many clients find they progress faster in water than with land-based therapy alone.

Neurological Conditions

Hydrotherapy is well suited to neurological rehabilitation — including stroke recovery, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, and acquired brain or spinal cord injuries. Warm water and natural resistance support balance retraining, gait improvement, and the gradual return of functional movement.

Chronic Pain

Living with fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, or persistent back pain? Warm water hydrotherapy can reduce pain sensitivity, improve circulation, and help restore movement that feels impossible on land — all in a gentle, one-on-one environment led by a physiotherapist.

Aged Care & Elderly Rehabilitation

For older clients, hydrotherapy offers a safe way to maintain mobility, build strength, and reduce the risk of falls — without the strain of land-based exercise. Warm water supports weakened joints and muscles, and our facility is fully accessible for all mobility levels, including hoist access to the pool.

Paediatric Rehabilitation

Children with developmental delays, cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, or injuries respond well to aquatic physiotherapy. Our warm, private pool is a welcoming environment for kids to build strength, coordination, and confidence through guided exercises tailored to their individual stage and needs.

Sports Injury Recovery

Recovering from a lower limb injury? Our underwater treadmill and heated pools let you maintain cardiovascular fitness and rebuild strength in a low-impact environment — so you can stay active while you recover.

Spinal Cord Injury

Water provides a safe, supported environment for spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Buoyancy and warmth allow movement and exercise that may not be possible on land, helping to maintain function and build strength progressively.

Fibromyalgia

Warm water hydrotherapy offers gentle, effective relief for fibromyalgia. The heat and buoyancy reduce pain sensitivity and allow graduated exercise that would be too painful on land, helping to break the cycle of pain and inactivity.

Stroke Rehabilitation

Water-based rehabilitation supports stroke recovery by enabling gait retraining, balance work, and functional movement practice in a safe, buoyant environment. Our underwater treadmill and warm water help accelerate neurological recovery.
